1940’s V.F.W. Iwo Jima Painting

Fantastic “Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima” patriotic tribute painting. While unsigned, this well-executed amateur painting of the iconic 1945 Rosenthal photo was said to have hung inside a VFW in Greene County, Pennsylvania. It retains overall vibrant colors with some expected surface tarnishing from years of display in a presumed smoke-filled bar. Unframed.

Very good vintage condition. As described above, the colors are vibrant but with some tarnishing. Four nail holes are visible; some loss to the paint and board is visible around the hole at lower right. Some wear around edges, and rounding of the corners. Sturdy, with no breaks or repairs.
