The Vamp Sign (arrow left)

An incredible piece of 1970’s and 80’s Pittsburgh fashion scene history, this is one side of the original hand-painted sandwich board sign advertising "The Vamp". (Arrow pointing left.)

The Vamp was one of the city’s early vintage/antique clothing shops. Nearly every day, the sign would have been taken outside and placed on the Walnut Street sidewalk in Pittsburgh's posh Shadyside neighborhood.

Obtained from a longtime western Pennsylvania antiques dealer.

Hand-painted plywood

Measures 43-1/4" tall x about 23-3/4" wide. The plywood is about 1/2" thick.

Good vintage condition with some expected weathering, minor scratches and blemishes commensurate with authentic sidewalk use. Some loss to the edges. Sturdy, with no breaks or repairs.

Hardware added to the back for easy hanging.
